THE STOLTE SCHOLARSHIP

THE STOLTE SCHOLARSHIP

2019 Annual Report of the Stolte Scholarship Committee

Each year the Stolte Scholarship, in the amount of $1000.00, is awarded to an individual from the Greater Hanover Area pursuing a career in the field of ministry, missions, or humanitarian service. Those interested are asked to complete an application and submit a brief summary of their call into ministry and future vocational goals. In rewarding the scholarship, consideration is given to the individual’s academic achievement, honors and awards, church and school involvements, financial need, and aspirations. Application forms were made available through area pastors, high school guidance offices, the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, and the Hanover Area Council of Churches office. In 2019, the applications were due April 30th.

In 2019 six applications were submitted. What a blessing it was to see the devotion and call to serve the Lord shown by these applicants!

The committee was pleased to select Sydnee Loy as this year’s recipient. Ms. Loy is a graduate of New Oxford High School and will be attending West Virginia University where she will be majoring in Nursing. She is a member of Paradise Lutheran Church and has participated in mission trips to inner city Detroit and Houston. In addition, she has spent two weeks at the Broad Street Ministry in Philadelphia.
